Mayor’s Curry Evening
The Mayor of Morley has welcomed the success of a charity event to raise money for the Forget Me Not and Martin House children’s hospices held at Thornfield House in Morley on Friday, 14 July 2017. The event, which attracted over 80 people, was a curry night with entertainment provided by a local Oompah band.
Mayor of Morley, Councillor Robert Finnigan said, “The whole event was a very successful one with well over £700 raised for these exceptional charities. The food was excellent and the entertainment unusual but greatly entertaining! I would pass on my thanks to the Mayoress, Lisa Finnigan, the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Roger and Christine Bell, the Town Council staff along with Thornfield House who worked so hard to make the event a success but particularly those attending the event who have given so generously!”
Over £700 was raised from the raffle and stand up bingo, with one guest donating has bingo winnings of over £100 back to both charities.
Councillor Finnigan said, “Both the Forget Me Not Fund and Martin House do excellent work supporting those families facing exertional circumstances with a child or young person with an end of life condition. Everyone had an excellent time and also showed their commitment to both charities by giving generously throughout the whole event”.
