Mayor cuts ribbon at Imax cinema opening
The Mayor of Morley, Councillor Robert Finnigan cut the ribbon on the opening of the new Cineworld Imax cinema at the White Rose Centre on Thursday, 16th November 2017. The opening follows over £25 million of investment at the White Rose to bring the multi-screen cinema and additional restaurants to the popular shopping centre. The White Rose Centre entered a legal agreement to provide many of the new jobs at the cinema and restaurants to local people, with over 250 new vacancies created through this proposal.
Councillor Finnigan said “It was a privilege and a delight to be asked to cut the ribbon to open this fabulous new Imax cinema. Morley Town Council supported this proposal several years ago when it was in the initial planning stage and have continued their support of this project. I am delighted we have seen this stunning development completed. This new cinema is a fabulous asset for Morley, Leeds and Yorkshire, with many of the new jobs generated by this development going to local people. The White Rose continues to have a special relationship with the town of Morley and supports Morley town centre in many ways. Delivering many of these new job vacancies for Morley residents is something they can be very proud about.
