Remembrance 2020

05/11/2020

In the last 6 weeks we have received different guidelines surrounding the Remembrance Sunday Events from many different sources sometimes duplicated each day.  This, as you can imagine has made the arrangements difficult to plan, attempting to balance the safety of people attending and allowing people the right to remember.

Please note that this is NOT considered as a full scale event that would require the notification to SAG as an event, although notification will be given to SAG as a matter of courtesy.  There will be NO marching band, parade or official religious service given on the day.  We are attempting to make the day as pleasant as we can for everyone wishing to remember whilst remaining conscious that there is a pandemic and the country is in a full scale lockdown with many government restrictions.

For anyone attending, they will need to scan in using the NHS Track and Trace poster that will be available on Sunday, but is also attached to this email.  We will allow more people to attend than originally planned now that new guidance has been released.  People attending will need to observe social distancing at all times and to remain in your own household or support bubble.

The arrangements are very much similar to the previous plans but with the allowance of more wreath laying.  Instead of an exhaustive list of wreath layers, I have listed the order and would hope that people respect the order.  Everyone attending will get their opportunity.  After the National Anthem (allowanced under the new guidance) there won’t be any provision for refreshments afterwards in the town hall like in recent years.

The NEW arrangements are as follows:
