Redevelopment of New Pavilion welcomed
Morley Town Councillors have welcomed a planning application for the redevelopment of the New Pavilion building off Fountain Street at a recent Planning Committee meeting. The plans, which would see the run down building developed into flats, was supported by the councillors attending.
Councillor Robert Finnigan, Chairman of the committee said “The Pavilion has a long and glorious history in Morley. It is the building were Ernie Wise first performed at and has been, in the past, a bingo hall, restaurant and a night club. The building has become a little run down in recent years and news of its regeneration is warmly welcome. It is one of the major buildings on a route into Morley town centre and its improvement would be another boost for the town.”
The application follows an earlier application, several years ago, which ran out of planning permission time.
