New year message from Mayor Bob And  Mayoress Lesley

My mayoral year seems to have flown and we are more than half way through it.

Having spent a lot if time chairing  meetings it is wonderful to have spent the last ten days attending 12 Carol services.

What was good to see was the huge numbers of parents supporting their children which saw the Town Hall, school halls and local churches packed to capacity. There is certainly not a better way to celebrate Christmas than through the voices of young people.

2016 saw us commemorate the 100 anniversary of the Battle of the Somme and no one will forget the scene of children from all the Morley schools walking down Queen Street carrying small wooden crosses and planting the crosses in the garden of remembrance.some of the crosses bearing messages to  the children’s great grandfathers.

We hope 2017 will bring happiness,love and good health to everyone and we wish you and the ones you love all the Joys of a Christian Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
