Mayor joins Army Cadets for Awards Day

The Mayor of Morley joined Army Cadets from across North and West Yorkshire at an awards and information day at Strensall Camp near York on Sunday, 24th September.

The day, organised by Yorkshire-based groups of Army Cadets was attended by Mayors from towns and cities across Yorkshire including Morley, Bradford, Wakefield, Wetherby and Richmond.  Guests were shown the different skills cadets were developing, including First Aid, wall climbing, communication skills and camouflage techniques.  Certificates were awarded for achievements over the last year.

Councillor Robert Finnigan said “It was a fabulous day where we all gained a valuable insight into the work  Army Cadets undertake.  The Army Cadets offer many opportunities for local young people to develop skills such as resilience, self-motivation, teamwork and practical skills which can be used in later life.  It was a pleasure and a delight to attend and meet so many well-motivated young people.”
