Mayor attends Bligny Sunday

Mayor of Morley, Councillor Robert Finnigan attended Bligny Sunday at Leeds Minster on Sunday, 23 July 2017, along with the Mayoress, Lisa Finnigan, together with the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Roger and Christine Bell.

Bligny Sunday commemorates the 365 troops, many from the 8th (Leeds Rifles) Battalion, who died at Bligny Ridge in France in July 1918.

Mayor Finnigan said “It was an honour to attend this remembrance event.  The service was very touching and it is important we continue to remember those brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice almost 100 years ago.”

The Lord Mayor of Leeds and Wakefield also attended the service along with Territorial Soldiers and a member of a Canadian Regiment.
