Dartmouth Park Dog Show

Mayor of Morley, Councillor Robert Finnigan visited the Dartmouth Park dog show held on Sunday, 4th June 2017.  He was accompanied by the Mayoress, Mrs Lisa Finnigan, together with the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress, Councillor Roger and Mrs Christine Bell.  All four were involved as judges of the competition and hundreds of people turned up to take part in the event and to visit the numerous stalls around the park.

Councillor Finnigan said, “We had an excellent time at the dog show and we judged many different categories, including best young dog, best veteran and the dog with the ‘waggiest’ tail.  We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience but it was often difficult to choose a winner from the large number of delightful dogs and their equally delightful owners”.

The best of show winner was an old spaniel, who had recovered from a stroke.  Mayoress Lisa Finnigan said, “We all agreed that he was a real hero.  He had battled with the consequences of his stroke and other problems, such as arthritis and was a loving and affectionate dog.  We all thought that this encapsulated what dog ownership means”.
