Councillors delight as new CCTV camera is brought to local park

Councillors have welcomed the commissioning of a new CCTV camera in Churwell Park which will oversee the newly refurbished children’s play area.  The camera, finance by Morley Town Council, was delivered with the help of the Churwell Environmental Volunteers who undertook the ground works for the new camera column.

The new camera brings the total number of cameras covering the park to six, with the new additional camera covering the car park adjacent to the park on Hepworth Avenue.

Councillor Robert Finnigan said “This is a fine example of a positive partnership between local volunteers, Morley Town Council and Leeds City Council introducing an additional camera to the CCTV camera coverage in Churwell Park.  The new children’s play area cost cover £100,000 to refurbish and we know the new camera will reduce vandalism and anti-social behaviour at this locations.  I am delighted we have been able to introduce more CCTV to Churwell Park.  Vandalism and anti-social behaviour will be reduced and park users will know that the CCTV system will keep them safer.
