Councillors agree grant for Remembrance Festival

Morley Councillors have agreed a grant towards covering the cost of delivering this year’s Festival of Remembrance to be held in November.

Councillor Wyn Kidger, who backed the grant proposal said “We have agreed a grant of £600 at Community Committee to support the Festival of Remembrance.  This is just one of the many events we are supporting this year, including a concert to raise funds for the British Legion, a remembrance service to include Morley schools and, of course, the service to be held on Remembrance Sunday.”

This year’s additional events will commemorate the centenary of the end of World War One with events and services held throughout the year.

Councillor Andrew Hutchison said “We are providing as much support as we can to the Morley Branch of the British Legion.  Last year they raised record breaking amounts to financially support members of the armed forces who need their help.  We are calling on Morley residents to back all the events during the Remembrance period.”
