Councillors agree funding towards War Memorial clean up
Morley Town Council has agreed over £6,000 of funding to contribute towards a partnership project to clean up the War Memorial in Scatcherd Park. The project, which could cost £18,000 in total, will see the memorial cleaned and refurbished in time for the Remembrance Season in November this year, which will focus on the centenary of the end of the First World War.
Councillor Robert Finnigan, Leader of Morley Town Council said “The memorial has needed cleaning and refurbishing for many years and we have identified funding from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which Morley Town Council receives, to cover our contribution towards this project. We hope Leeds City Council will be able to identify the rest of the funds required to get this project completed before this year’s Remembrance Sunday.”
