Concert to support the British Legion comes to Morley

The band of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are to play at a concert in Morley over the Remembrance weekend.  The band, who are renowned nationally, will perform in the Alexandra Hall of Morley Town Hall on Saturday, 11th November at 7.30 pm.

Councillor Bob Gettings, who arranged the concert said “We are asking residents to make a contribution to the excellent work the British Legion do both locally and nationally by buying a ticket at £5 each, with all funds going to the British Legion’s “Poppy Appeal.  It is going to be an entertaining night with a nationally renowned band.  I would encourage residents to join us and the British Legion so we can support the work they undertake.”

All monies raised from the concert will be added to the funds from the sale of poppies across Morley, which last year reached a total of £38,000.

Councillor Getting said “We are hoping the Morley poppy sale raises £40,000 this year and our aim is for this concert to contribute towards this target.
