Red Cross National Flood Appeal Bring and Buy sale
Raises over One Thousand Pounds

The recent Bring and Buy Sale held in Morley Town Hall to Raise Funds for the British Red Cross National Flood Appeal raised over One Thousand Pounds, which will help those people affected by the recent floods.

One of the organisers, Councillor Judith Elliott, said " It has proved, once again that the people of Morley are extremely generous. It takes a lot of hard work to raise One Thousand Pounds and it is a credit to everyone involved that we have raised such an amount."

Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe FSA, officially opened the event say that she had come to Morley for two reasons. "One is to support those people who  have been effected by the dreadful floods and the other is to support another fund raising event held in

  in Morley, such events in your Town have my wholehearted support."

 

Rachel Souter, Senior Manager from the British Red Cross, spoke prior to the opening of the event and thanked those who had helped raise funds.

Councillor Terry Grayshon, who helped organise the event commented "I am pleased that we have raised over a Thousand Pounds to help those people who have been so very effected by the terrible floods.  It is an awful situation and once again the people of Morley have helped others in a time of crisis.  We have had a large amount of goods donated and offers of help to man the stalls today. I would like to thank everyone for their support, including Dr Roscoe who so very kindly agreed to open the event."
